We discussed this one before it was changed - the age is set at 18 because the legislation in some places counts anyone under 18 as legally a child. It's not a judgment call on our part (I come from a country where the age of consent is 16, and that feels reasonable to me, for example), it's a minimum to enable people to make judgments about what may, or may not be legal for them to view within their jurisdiction.

This is a warning for posting here on the comm and changing it back could cause legal issues for some of our readers - I'm kind of at a loss as to how we could accommodate that without having it here - we did discuss having an under 16 AND an under 18 warning, but that started to feel very complicated (and obviously people are more than welcome to add more warnings, comments or commentary as they're posting here) but if you have an idea of what we could do, please let us know, it's entirely possible that we've missed something obvious.
