Check-in no.2
Here is the second check in post, mirrored on our Tumblr.
This is an optional activity, with no deadlines. Answer now, answer later, or skip it completely.
No matter what kind of fanwork you're planning on creating for this challenge, at the heart of it is a story that you want to tell. And until you have an idea of what that story is, it's hard find the inspiration and creativity to start on your fanwork.
So that's the first step. Think about the story you want to tell. It can be detailed and specific (I want FOB as werewolves!) or more general (I want band-as-chosen-family FEELS!) You can tell more than one story, combining them into a sticky sweet concoction of trope-y goodness. You can have a theme, a idée fixe, a narrative kink.
Comment to this post, or reblog on Tumblr, and:
1. tell us what is your favorite type of drink
2. tell us a little bit about the story (or stories, if you haven't settled on just one) you want to tell
3. comment to someone else's comment and cheer them on
Remember, you're not being graded; there is no wrong answer, because all answers are right.
Let's kickstart our creativity!

2. The story's taking shape. Slowly but steadily. 90% or so is mapped out, so the "only" thing I have to do now is to fill in the blanks, i.e. write the darn thing.
If anything, I'm thrilled that we have a little over a month to finish the rough draft cuz sheesh! \o? AND /o\

2. Well the one I'm currently struggling with is a Peterick magical bookstore AU (like a regular bookstore AU but with magic and dragons). I'm about 2/3 done and haven't worked on it much because I'm currently looking for a job. The second is the Victorian vampire AU that's Gerard Way/Grant Morrison and thankfully that one IS finished (or the first draft is anyway

2- I'm almost 15k into what is, basically, if Dennis from 13Ghosts met Frank Bannister from The Frighteners and they became buddies. Just..you know...Gabe and Brendon instead. :)

2: My stories are two things I want to see in the world: ONE: Ray Toro get a lot of love and cuddles and, like, occasionally laid in fic (THIS STORY LITERALLY STARTED OUT BECAUSE SOMEONE COMMENTED ON ONE OF MY FICS AND SAID THEY'D READ ANYTHING EXCEPT RAY/GERARD to which my natural kneejerk response was FINE I'M GOING TO WRITE 25k OF RAY/GERARD THEN) and TWO: Killjoys OT4 with a happy ending. And. Um. Mpreg. Because reasons or something idek, I just ... it's a challenge, okay? The biology is a CHALLENGE I CAN'T RESIST.

1. my blood is coffee and I can't stop. coffee maker is in my bedroom and spits out three pots a day
2. Me, staring in horror at the MCR tarot deck I thought would be so cool, and not at all a time-consuming, 80-piece endeavor: hahahahahaha what
I'm about 9k into a patrick/joe kind of loose groundhog day au that I'll buckle down on when I realize I set unrealistic goals for myself

2. I have been really struggling to get my piece written, to be honest. One of my betas is really busy, the other one isn't in the best place to help and I'm a constant idea-bouncer and in perpetual need of reassurance that it isn't bloody awful, so I've been floundering, but not for want to staring at the document all evening and all weekend for weeks. I'm getting closer to the minimum word count, which I suppose is a relief - but minimum word count and 80% complete are very different things for me.
The story itself might be less gen than I had planned - I was hoping to only have a late introduction of a ship, because I tend to assume that when your wife has gone missing (because aliens) it takes a bit of time to catch up emotionally - but it does need a underlying plot, so I'm working in some internal conflict based on things that happened ten years earlier.
But I'm pretty confident I can do it, I just don't know how good it'll be by the time someone looks at a companion piece for it.
I'm prepared to pick up and do a companion piece, if I get time, mods. I don't mind being back up.

2. Story...ummmmm well.....basically it's a magical!AU without actual magic with no band, Peterick, and some hardcore friendship-bromance-level stuff between all of the FOB! boys...because I love supercoolfriend!Joe and supersage!Andy. Thinking of bringing in some other bandom folks but I'm not sure. I'm 10k words in, I have my main conflict decided on in my head and I've been doing the Mad Libs writing style...so basically I have the first...oh, three chapters written? And then like five random scenes and no conclusion. Yay me =( *sits in the corner and folds arms, mumbling about how it PROBABLY would have been smart to outline before I started writing*
I think honestly the hardest part was figuring out how my particular brand of magic works in this story and coming up with names and rules, etc. I'm not a very...inventive person natively, so this was a challenge. But I LOVE how it's coming out!

2. I'm... Totally stuck on my fuckin.... van days vampires gabe/mikey fic I have it all planned out but I'm really not getting anywhere sjhdjhsj like actually sitting down and writing it is hard and it doesn't look right to me but I'm too shy to show anyone so that's where I'm at right now....................... I've been considering writing other things (like a dnd campaign fic or finishing that zombie frerard I've been lagging on) but like.... The writer's block is just killin' me man I'm doomed

2. my story is almost completely finished!! I've finished my draft and done the first round of edits, all it needs now is a few finishing touches. it's sitting pretty at 81k. as for plot: imagine a frerard demon au that got out of hand fast and grew into an entire universe of plot with almost every member of bandom showing up at some point bc I'm a piece of shit who can't resist ensemble fics
magic. death. secrets. grudges. sarcasm. romance. and a very small hellhound named sweet pea.
what more does an au need

2. I have ~4500 words, which I'm not thrilled with :/ I just finished the opening segment/prologue, where Pete makes a terribly misguided magical bargain and gets sixteen-year-old Joe turned into a werewolf. Now I'm transitioning from Pete angst to poor Muggle Patrick trying to figure out why he has the weirdest band mates in the Midwest.
I'm a little worried about carrying momentum, but I'm having a lot of fun writing a real villain for once. I really just wanted to write about scent kink and boys in collars, but now I have ocs and conflict and stuff. And Wentz guilt.

2) WHAT IF EVERYONE IN BANDOM HAD SIGNED UP FOR GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF? WHAT THEN? WHAT SORT OF CAKES WOULD GERARD MAKE? DOES PETE REALLY BAKE METAPHORS? If I ever get past the first chapter, we may all find out.
3) I WILL. FOR I AM A BEAR WHO COMMUNICATES BEST THROUGH INTERPRETIVE DANCE. THIS IS LOVE - NOT MAULING.

2. I'm focusing on a Sixteen Candles Peterick AU - basically, Pete's becoming of a vampire, with a soulmate twist thrown in there. I'm still deciding how I want to introduce Beckett and the rest of them, because all I've written so far is the introduction haha.
But yay, 1/20th of the way done!!
