Beta post!
There has been a lot of people talking about needing a beta to help them through this challenge, so here is a post to hopefully help you connect with someone.
You do not have to be signed up as a participant in the challenge to offer to be a beta. Also consider that one of the ways to improve your work is to beta other people's work.
Examples of things that a writing beta can help with: SPaG, general proofreading, flow/pacing, structure, continuity, plot, characterization, canon checking, language picking (Brit-pick, Ameri-pick). Podficcers look for betas to listen for editing issues, sound issues, pacing/flow, and other elements. Vidders need people to watch what they've edited for cohesive themes, good flow, and continuity, as well as other technical issues. Artists need people to look at what they've created with an eye toward composition, color, details. Mixers may need a new set of ears to make sure their narrative theme is working.
If you are looking for a beta, please be clear on what you are looking for, and what kind of boundaries and timelines you're working with. For example, this early in the process, you may not want someone who's going to go over your fanwork with a fine-toothed comb. Maybe you just want to make sure that your characterization is working, or the story's flow is smooth. Sometimes you just want to hear about what's working, and not about the parts that aren't. Communicate these things with your beta.
Note which work platforms you use, or are most familiar with. Word, Gdocs, Scrivener, etc. Are you going to send your beta a .doc, or invite them into your Gdoc?
Cut and paste the info below into a comment. In the subject line, please put either In need of a beta or Offering to beta to make things easier. If you fit into both of those categories, please leave two separate comments rather than one.

Offering to beta
Methods of communication: email, Twitter, discord, Skype chat, text, Gchat, others.
Work platform: Most comfortable with Gdocs. Can do Word.
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): Don't have the time/energy for a detailed beta, and I'm not good with SPaG. Would be willing to do read throughs for overall pacing/structure/characterization. Need to be warned for character death and dub/non-con. Won't do animal harm. Can also beta video for overall feel, along the lines of "this works, that doesn't." Can do art, as well, but again, "this works, oooh, I like that!" kind of beta.

(Anonymous) 2018-04-15 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)Methods of communication: email, text message (if in the USA), Twitter DMs, and Instagram messenger. (ashleyhashbrowns@gmail.com, @bluemoongirl on Twitter, and for further stuff just hit me up with those first!
Work platform: Google Docs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): Brian Schechter/Gerard Way is the main pairing of my Big Bang fic. (I was also toying with an elaborate Danger Days fic but idk if I could pull it off. I’m looking for someone who will talk me through plot stuff and give me feedback on how a scene is written, and grammar stuff. I also would like to make a friend!

offering to beta
Methods of communication: email, discord, tumblr, instagram
Work platform: google docs, but i can do word as well
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): i can beta for pretty much anything - fic, mixes, art, you name it! when it comes to fic, it might take me a little while to read through a complete work, but when i'm able to i can offer pretty extensive critique. if you just want SPaG, that's one of my strengths, but i'll totally look at pacing/structure/characterization etc! i'll work with any pairing but i'm most likely to get invested in frank/gerard or pete/patrick. won't work with incest, cheating/infidelity, mpreg, or ddlg-related content. warn me for disordered eating or noncon.

Methods of communication: email (uhohiero@gmail.com)
Work platform: Google docs is the best for me
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): I’m most familiar with MCR pairings, but I’ll do anything really. I’m great with SPaG and more fine-tuned editing, so i’ll probably be more useful later in the process.
offering to beta
Need a beta
Methods of communication: Email, tumblr, twitter, gchat
Work platform: gdocs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): I primarily write FOB AU, because, well... thats what i do, but other folks have been known to pop up from time to time. I am primarily looking for someone to bounce ideas off of to make sure they aren't too out there and read over the final product better than I can myself. I am forever finding mistakes that make my eye twitch. I would be more than happy to answer any other questions if needed.

Methods of communication: Skype, Discord, Instagram, Tumblr, E-mail, and Twitter
Work platform: I’m doing an art piece of a program called Medibang
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): I’m drawing Frank/Ray for my thing. I’m willing to bets on anything, if you need me to. I’m decent at SPaG, and I can offer great critique. I’m looking for someone who’ll be honest, but not in a rude way when it comes to what I’m working on. For me, I won’t do incest, pedophilia, mpreg, and cheating. Warn me if your work contains dubcon/noncon and/or character suicide.
Need a beta
Methods of communication: email, gmail chat, text/phone if in the US
Work platform: Gdocs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): I think I've settled on a Pete/Patrick pairing and either leaning towards supernatural like vamps, mages, etc worldbuilding or a fic that I started last year or so and finish that that is a no band au. Any help with this is appreciated. Mostly just pacing, characterization, and nudges of making sure I'm still working lol.
In Need of Beta
Methods of communication: Twitter, FB Messenger, text (but I suck at it) and shockingy phone conversations, either via FB or actual number.
Work platform: Prefer Gdocs. Also work with Word. I write using active HTML
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): Working on a multi pairing fic containing triplets. Several pairs going on at once with changes during the fic progression. I don't really have any triggers in writing so I write about everything. Please let me know what triggers you have or comfort levels.
Looking for basically SPaG, but can also use structure/pacing/characterizations. Prefer using the editing style on Gdocs where you suggest the changes and I either accept them or not. Also I am able to communicate on each edit if needed. Would not be bothered if after this a friendship is formed. ^-^
In need of a beta
Methods of communication: Email, Twitter, Tumblr, ect.
Work platform: Google Documents for the most part.
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): The fics I'm writing for BBB are both Frerards. One doesn't have any major warnings needed but the other has a bit of graphic violence and a major character death so take from that what you will. I"m primarily looking for someone to look over them and basically make sure everything works and it's not just complete garbage.

In need of a beta
Methods of communication: email (josiefanworks @ gmail.com) and twitter
Work platform: email, youtube, vimeo - it depends on where I upload the clip I want to send
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): just need a lot of eyes to tell me if the video I'm making makes sense story-wise. Pete/Patrick for this work, warnings for erratic/flashing images and occult themes
Offering to beta and in need of a beta!
Methods of communication: tumblr, email, discord, gchat.
Work platform: i use microsoft onedrive bc i'm a nerd but can do google docs.
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): pairing for my fic is frerard (fic has no major warnings. it's fluffy rom com stuff with a dash of angst). need someone to do a read-through for SPaG and maybe also pacing, characterization, etc. when i get close to completing the first draft. also i'd love to like be friends and talk with you about stuff as we're writing if we vibe together. beta must be 18+ as my fic will be rated E.
i have never beta'd fanworks, but i have done a lot of proofreading and general editing for my friends' college essays and creative writing. i'm good with catching typos and (if you need it) rewording clunky sentences, stuff like that. i will not beta anything involving incest, mpreg, ddlg/cgl, pedophilia, or non-con or abuse within the primary ship. warn me for major character death and any abuse or non-con. i will not beta an E-rated fic written by a minor.
i can also beta for works other than fic and would especially be interested in doing so for a mix! but i have not done any of that before so i may not be the best at giving feedback for those haha.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-14 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)Offering to beta
Methods of communication: discord, email, tumblr, twitter (in that order of preference)
Work platform: most comfortable with Gdocs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): The pairing that I am most familiar with is Frerard, but mostly comfortable with anything MCR-related. SpaG is my strong suit, but I can also offer honest critique on flow, pacing, and plot stuff. I am also a practiced artist and can give critique on art. I do not have any major squicks/triggers, though if you're going to give me an Explicit fic, daddy kink and a/b/o isn't really my thing. I do really like angst, angst n fluff, and h/c, and I'm also a huge fan of unique AUs...so if your fic has that, I will be a happy camper reading and betaing it (not required! those are just my favorite things to read).
I'm not personally participating in BBB this year, but I participated last year as a complement creator (art) and spent most of that time cheering on my friend through writing their primary work fic, so I empathize with those deadlines (UGH!) and think I'm a pretty damn good cheerleader, if I do say so myself. Hit me up with your BBB WIP and let's get cracking!

In need of Beta
Methods of communication:email and gdocs
Work platform:Gdocs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc):Writing a crossdressing AU with MCR/Rammstein/Oomph! It's told from the POV of Frank but heavily paired with Frank Iero/Dero Goi. SpaG is what I desperately need. Transition is also important to me for a beta to watch out for. I'm looking for a beta who is willing to be hands on and stay with me the entire bang.
Offering to Beta
Methods of communication: email, hangouts, gdocs
Work platform: gdocs
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): most comfortable with MCR (and those closely related to MCR) for characterisation, but otherwise I'm easy. No soft/hard limits that I can think of. I am British so not the best for yank-picking
Looking for a beta
Methods of communication: Tumblr, mainly, but I have a long lost kik I could revive
Work platform: AO3
Other information (pairings, hard limits, timelines etc): I've started, but had to take a long break because of my exams and need someone to talk to about plot lines and continuity details. It's a vandays!fob Peterick mpreg, (hopefully) pretty cute but with a bit of angst in the middle. Happy endings are my thing. This is my first Big Bang so I'm a little unsure of how everything works, but generally I'm very excited. I have quite good spag and I'm confident in my writing style but this is my longest fic yet and I'm worried about parts being boring/useless etcetera... Mx
