Bandom Big Bang 2015, otherwise known as ch-ch-changes!
Okay, so one of the things that
glitteryv and I have been tossing around is the idea of opening up
bandombigbang to other fanworks. In the past, the focus of creative fanworks was fixed on writing. But now, other forms of creative fanworks have become fannishly mainstream, and Luce and I are excited about bringing those fanworks to the Bandom Big Bang.
What Luce and I are looking at is having creators come up with primary and complementary fanworks. Some examples of a more open big bang we've looked at are the Losers BB and the due South/C6D BB.
Basically, you sign up to create a primary fanwork, and someone chooses your fanwork as a basis for creating a complementary fanwork. Primary fanworks can be fic, art, vid, podfic, mixes and complementary fanworks can be fic, art, vid, podfic, mixes. Sorta like smushing together a big bang and a reverse big bang (if you don't know what a reverse big bang is, there was one for bandom a couple of years ago : bandomreversebb.)
Instead of three waves, there would be two. Wave One would have higher requirements than Wave Two. A rough schedule would look something like this:
Wave One
Wave Two
We'd love to hear what you think. Comments are open, anon is enabled. Please note that we haven't hammered out all of the details yet, so this is a good time to ask questions and suggest things.
If you could signal boost, especially on Tumblr (Tumblr link) or deviantArt, in the podfic or vidding communities, and any place else you think would be helpful, that'd be great as well. We're really hoping to pull in more creators in different mediums.
If you have any other feedback about how this year's challenge went, feel free to leave that as well.
If you're not comfortable leaving comments that are publicly viewable, please email us at bandombigbang at gmail dot com.
We hope you'll be just as enthusiastic as we are over the proposed changes.

It would have to mean some pretty big changes in the scheduling though. The "second phase" will need just as much time as the first if you expect people to finish writing a BB lenght story.

As for changes, yes, there are things Aka and I are looking as far as logistics are concerned. The purpose of this post was to gauge everyone's level of interest. We're going to hammer out the details and put up a detailed post in the near-ish future.
Thanks for commenting. :)

Though, do you think you'll have a cap on how many times someone can signup to submit something for the primary waves?
Also, will the period of time between wave deadlines for primary rough drafts of media be spanned apart because this year I found it impossible to focus on a wave three story because wave one got expanded so by the time I had everything edited and shiny for final drafts I found myself with only 5ish days to try and get anything rough draft presentable for wave three and that was impossible.
And, I wonder, will you guys have an option where the primary creator(s)(because I assume you'll continue to allow co-labs between writers...and maybe colab between primary creators for mixes/art/vids/podfic also?) can opt out of receiving certain types of complimentary media? Like say if someone submits a mix and doesn't want a complimentary mix is that possible? Because What if someone is writing a fic to be submitted for Primary and it's closed world and they wouldn't want anyone else to write in that universe?
(I'm sorry for asking a million and fifty questions...but I'm super curious and impatient I guess for the post you guys will be putting up soonish talking more indepth about the changes)
