Bandom Big Bang 2015, otherwise known as ch-ch-changes!
Okay, so one of the things that
glitteryv and I have been tossing around is the idea of opening up
bandombigbang to other fanworks. In the past, the focus of creative fanworks was fixed on writing. But now, other forms of creative fanworks have become fannishly mainstream, and Luce and I are excited about bringing those fanworks to the Bandom Big Bang.
What Luce and I are looking at is having creators come up with primary and complementary fanworks. Some examples of a more open big bang we've looked at are the Losers BB and the due South/C6D BB.
Basically, you sign up to create a primary fanwork, and someone chooses your fanwork as a basis for creating a complementary fanwork. Primary fanworks can be fic, art, vid, podfic, mixes and complementary fanworks can be fic, art, vid, podfic, mixes. Sorta like smushing together a big bang and a reverse big bang (if you don't know what a reverse big bang is, there was one for bandom a couple of years ago : bandomreversebb.)
Instead of three waves, there would be two. Wave One would have higher requirements than Wave Two. A rough schedule would look something like this:
Wave One
Wave Two
We'd love to hear what you think. Comments are open, anon is enabled. Please note that we haven't hammered out all of the details yet, so this is a good time to ask questions and suggest things.
If you could signal boost, especially on Tumblr (Tumblr link) or deviantArt, in the podfic or vidding communities, and any place else you think would be helpful, that'd be great as well. We're really hoping to pull in more creators in different mediums.
If you have any other feedback about how this year's challenge went, feel free to leave that as well.
If you're not comfortable leaving comments that are publicly viewable, please email us at bandombigbang at gmail dot com.
We hope you'll be just as enthusiastic as we are over the proposed changes.
