So?

It's clear that Bandom has quieted down significantly on the journaling platform side of things; we didn't have any problems with claims for Wave One in 2015, but for Wave Two there were several primary works that didn't get claimed by complement creators, and that was very disheartening, not only to the mods, but for the creators who participated as well.

So, maybe we need to change things up a little bit. My thoughts are this:

  • Have only one wave of BBB (with previous Wave One requirements: story of 20k+ words, podfic of 20k+ words, mix of 40 songs, art you've spent 40-60 hrs on, 4 minutes of vidding)
  • Sign ups start March 10th, claims for complements around June 10th, final fanworks due September 10th (note the longer creation period).
  • Continue allowing both primary and complement fanworks to be in any format (writing, art/crafts, mix, podfic, vid).
  • Monthly check-ins (just to keep everyone on track - the creation periods are longer with this schedule).

So, here's a poll! Anyone can participate, please signal boost this as much as possible, because I need to know if there's enough interest to sustain a BBB this year.

I'll keep the poll open for a week, so don't put off taking it. It's short, and I'd like to hear from a wide range of people.

And that's a thing, too. If you have a Tumblr and are active on the platform, please follow the Bandom Big Bang Tumblr account and reblog our posts. We don't seem to be reaching a lot of Bandom Tumblrites, and I'd like that to change.

If you have questions, concerns, or comments, please email the mods at bandombigbang @ gmail

    ETA:

One thing I do want to point out is that in the past, the timing has been:
  • Wave One (higher requirements), a bit under 4 months for 20k words and the equivalent for primary fanworks.
  • Wave Two (lower requirements), a bit under 3 months for 10k words and the equivalent for primary fanworks.

For 2016, we're looking at a bit under 6 months for 20k words and the equivalent for primary fanworks. A few people seem to think that the schedule is tougher for 2016, when it's actually more time to get your fanwork completed.
