On top of that, Frank and Gerard have to deal with the unexpected physical attraction they feel toward each other, all while avoiding stampeding ankylosaurs, ravenous theropods, and the occasional amorous pterosaurs.

With this mix, I tried to illustrate the progression of a plot line in the Killjoy universe. I wanted something with confusion, realization, and liberation. Take California was meant to be exposition. I wanted to get the feel that not everyone in the situation was there of their own accord or consent. From Pretend World to Wolf Mother was a slow decline from compliant citizen to someone questioning. Shiny and In the Shadows illustrate the lack of trust of both Battery City and the Killjoys. “They say that I must learn to kill before I can feel safe; but I’s rather kill myself than turn into their slave” is a good instance of this. After coming from a city of robots, who would want to lose themselves in the Zones? My writer pointed out that the turn from suspicion to trust happens during Sanctuary and Radar Detector. From there, it continues until the final songs, Ready Fuels and Radio, Radio, in which the protagonist and their new partners have become fully united.

Summary:

There's a turf battle between the Jersey Punks and the Fueled By Ramen Kids over who gets to play at what club in the city. When Mikey and Pete get into a fight with the members of Panic! At the Disco, and one of them ends up dead, Mikey and Pete--with the help of Gabe--must hide until all of this blows over. While hiding out in an abandoned building in NYC, Mikey reflects on the music scene, his parents death in 9/11, and his growing feelings for Pete. By the time Gabe shows up, Mikey realizes his life, and the scene as they know it, has to change. Mikey just hopes Pete and Gabe, along with his brothers, are willing to change with him before its too late, and more people end up dead.

Basically, this is The Outsiders rewritten to be about music scenes (with class tension) rather than gangs, and everyone is either a Greaser (Jersey Punk) or a Soc (Fueled By Ramen Kid). Mikey is Ponyboy Curtis, Pete Wentz is Johnny Cade, and Gabe Saporta is Dallas Winston. This has a happier ending than the movie, but everything else stays pretty much the same, but with a lot more focus on David Bowie.
