Okay, folks, here we go. Everyone who was supposed to check in for art and mixes has checked in. Right now, there's only one summary that needs a pinch hit (either art or mix, or both) - if you are interested in helping out, shoot an email to bandombigbang at gmail.

Beyond that, there are three stories that don't have a mix and four stories that don't have any art, and it would be really nice if every story got a mix and art. So if you've finished your assignment, or you haven't snagged a claim, it's not too late. Art claims here, mix claims here.

This is the claims post for 2014 WAVE TWO ARTISTS AND MIXERS.

Summaries are behind the cut. We have two podfics up for claiming. Since there aren't a lot of podfics, we will allow up to three claims each for art and mixes. Remember that art can be cover art, or something else inspired by the podfic. Let your imagination go. <3

Artists and mixers, please

read the rules.
Try to read the summaries as thoroughly as you can before claiming. No take backs!
Leave a comment with:
- DW username (LJ/Tumblr is okay if that's what you've got)
- E-mail address (try to use the same one you signed up with)
- Summary # that you're claiming
- Mixer or artist
Once a podfic is struck-through it has been completely claimed.
Mods will reply confirming your claim or asking you to choose again.
Podfic drafts will be sent out over the next several days via e-mail. Please wait 72 hours before contacting us because you are missing a draft. It takes time to coordinate this!
There's a check-in on July 15th, and the due date is July 25, and further details will come with your draft e-mail!

There are less than a dozen performers signed up for Wave Two and I know a few have had to drop out. And the deadline for podfic was yesterday, so let's try to get things going again.

At this point, you need to have a podfic rough draft done, which is a podfic that is at least 50% done or 1 hour completed. If you've managed to get that far on your BBB podfic, congrats. Send an email to bandombigbang at gmail with a screencap of the exported file in iTunes or the raw file in your recording software as proof.

Include a summary of the story - remember that this is so that artists and mixers can decide if they want to chose your podfic. If the story requires warnings, please include them in the summary.

Rough drafts are due today, Saturday May 31st. As long as it's still the 31st in Alofi, you're still good.

If you have to drop out, for whatever reason, don't feel bad. Life happens. If you want to send an email saying so, that's fine. But if we don't get some kind of communication from you by the end of today we will assume that you've dropped out. No hard feelings, bb. *hugs*

Greeting and salutations! It's your artist!Mod

chimneythunder here, checking in with all you lovely artists and mixers! Obviously, without having any of the actual fic drafts up yet, it’s kinda hard for any of you to have made a start (unless any of you are in current possession of either a TARDIS or Delorian, in which case, are you offering rides and can I come with?) but hopefully you’re all gearing yourselves up in preparation.
We’ll have up a post in the very near future for a reminder on how the claiming process works but for now, to get us all in the mood, I thought I’d pose some questions for you mixers and artists!

Do you go into it knowing that there is a specific type of fic you’d like to provide a mix or art for (e.g. specific pairings, genres or settings) or do you prefer to read all the drafts and see what grabs you?
When it comes down to the actual creating, what process do you like to follow?
What do you like most about creating art or a mix for a fic?

dapatty, here touching base to see how you snazzy podficcers are doing.

Have you already finished? Have you yet to get started? Are you just as surprised as me that we’re halfway through May? Do you simply need a hug? Kindly copy and paste from the text box below and comment to check in.

This is an informal check in and not required but why not at least discuss cake preferences (who doesn’t like chocolate cake, not that there is anything wrong if you prefer vanilla or bacon or even kale).

So, the idea is pretty simple. Set a timer, turn off or shut down the distractions (I usually close Twitter/Tumblr) and write (or be productive) for a set amount of time. 30 minutes works for a lot of people, others have more success with shorter or longer periods. Most times I find someone to sprint with, so you have a sense of accountability or competition, depending on how you roll.

The purpose of this post is twofold: to find people to sprint with, and to record your word counts if you are sprinting by yourself.

If you're looking for sprinting-partners, reply to the ISO Sprinters comment - mention preferred platform, usual times you are sprinting, how to contact you.

A comment will go up every couple of days to record word counts if you are sprinting on your own - just reply with your results to the most recent comment.

If you want to help out, feel free to cheer on those who are posting their word counts. They will appreciate it. \o/

Remember that you can choose to podfic a story from the 2012 or 2013 rounds of

bandombigbang or another story that you have asked for and received permission to podfic. To make things easier, here is a list of 2012/2013

bandombigbang authors that either opt-in for podfic or have some sort of permission statement. Additionally, you may find the Blanket Permission to Podfic Fanlore entry or

knight_tracer's list of Bandom authors with Blanket Permission to Podfic helpful in selecting a story to podfic.

Sign up with the username you will use throughout the challenge and your email address. This year we are asking primary creators if they are interested in collaborating with their mixer or artist; this does not guarantee they will be willing to work with you, but we want to give people the opportunity if they want it.

In order to provide a wider pool of fic choices for podficcers, we've tweaked the way that Wave 2 works. When sign-ups open on January 31, there will be a list of authors who participated in the 2012 and 2013 Bandom Big Bangs and who either have blanket permission to podfic or have opted-in to have their stories available for podficcing.

Podficcers can choose to podfic:

A story from the 2012 or 2013 Bandom Big Bang challenge in which the author has opted-in;
A story from an author who participated in the 2012 or 2013 Bandom Big Bang challenge and is listed on a blanket permission to podfic list;
Any story that is more than 10k words, meets the character requirements of this challenge, and the author has given permission to the podficcer.
