Okay, the deadline for Wave Three is approaching - so let's get a quick head count. Leave a comment if you are fairly confident you will have a rough draft of at least 10k words by July 25th. You don't have to sign in, just an anon comment of "Yes!" is fine.

Greeting and salutations! It's your artist!Mod [personal profile] chimneythunder  here, checking in with all you lovely artists and mixers! Obviously, without having any of the actual fic drafts up yet, it’s kinda hard for any of you to have made a start (unless any of you are in current possession of either a TARDIS or Delorian, in which case, are you offering rides and can I come with?) but hopefully you’re all gearing yourselves up in preparation.
We’ll have up a post in the very near future for a reminder on how the claiming process works but for now, to get us all in the mood, I thought I’d pose some questions for you mixers and artists!

Do you go into it knowing that there is a specific type of fic you’d like to provide a mix or art for (e.g. specific pairings, genres or settings) or do you prefer to read all the drafts and see what grabs you?
When it comes down to the actual creating, what process do you like to follow?
What do you like most about creating art or a mix for a fic?

Hi ya!

[personal profile] glitteryv here to share with you some tips and tools to get that first draft done. It is doable even if it looks like a super impossible task. #Trustme

Let's face it: whether it's their first story or their 100th, there's a point in which everyone needs a little help in getting their story to a rough draft. Do check out whichever links catch your attention.
So, about this thing called writing... )

Do you Twitter? Do you need some motivation for getting words down on the page? Then hit up the BBB Twitter for some sprinting.

Ping @bandombigbang and ask for a sprinting session. If any of the mods are up and about, we’ll help you out.

And watch @bandombigbang over the weekends - we’ll be running multiple sprinting sessions.

Hey, cats and kittens! This is your friendly neighborhood Writer!Mod, [personal profile] romantical, here to scare the heebie-jeebies by reminding you that we're a little less than one month away from the draft deadline

June 16th is the big due date, and this is the informal check in poll where you appease me and the fact that I am nosy and let me know how things are going, if you need any help, that sort of thing. I promise not to ask any questions about William Beckett which, for those who know me, is a very difficult thing indeed.

So, as Monty Python would say, answer me these questions five. Three, sir. Three:

Are you done with your draft? If not, roughly how far along are you 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4?
Are you already weeping about your summary/title?
Do you need a cheerleader/hand-holding/moral support/beta/a hug?

Hello, awesome peeps!

[personal profile] glitteryv here to talk to y'all about the next phase of [community profile] bandombigbang. Even though a lot of what I'll mention will refer to writers, there are a few things that do include all fanworks creators.

So most deffo read on. :) )

Sprinting!

So, the idea is pretty simple. Set a timer, turn off or shut down the distractions (I usually close Twitter/Tumblr) and write (or be productive) for a set amount of time. 30 minutes works for a lot of people, others have more success with shorter or longer periods. Most times I find someone to sprint with, so you have a sense of accountability or competition, depending on how you roll.

The purpose of this post is twofold: to find people to sprint with, and to record your word counts if you are sprinting by yourself.

If you're looking for sprinting-partners, reply to the ISO Sprinters comment - mention preferred platform, usual times you are sprinting, how to contact you.

A comment will go up every couple of days to record word counts if you are sprinting on your own - just reply with your results to the most recent comment.

If you want to help out, feel free to cheer on those who are posting their word counts. They will appreciate it. \o/

Hello bandomfolk! Sign-ups are progressing nicely; we'd love to see more people sign up, and we're very excited about the enthusiasm we've been seeing. Thank you.

Since there are so many people who are new to Bandom Big Bang, we thought we'd work on providing some basic information and tips on how to get through BBB season without your brain exploding from stress. Also, motivation and encouragement, which most people find useful.

Welcome to the sign up post for writers wanting to participate in Wave Three!

Sign up with the username you will use throughout the challenge and your email address. If you are planning to write more than one fic (e.g., one solo and one with a co-writer), please make sure that each sign up is a separate comment.

This year we are asking primary creators if they are interested in collaborating with their mixer or artist; this does not guarantee they will be willing to work with you, but we want to give people the opportunity if they want it.

So I started this year's bbb way back when - I think I might also be the one wrapping it up? Real life got in the way, but here it finally is:

Title: A Storm Brewing; in which the honorable Spencer Smith asks questions and finds answers
Author: [personal profile] bad_peppermint
Band(s): Panic! at the Disco
Pairing(s): Brendon Urie/Spencer Smith
Word Count: 25,050
Rating: PG
Warning(s): None
Summary:
Ever since he started university, Spencer has been quite content studying his dragons and trying to talk to Brendon, the young man who works at Spencer's boarding house. Having the dragons fall mysteriously ill is the last thing he wants, but then again, it does mean more time spent with Brendon as they try to figure out what's wrong.

And in spite of knowing how dangerous the universe was, it was still a surprise when they got the mayday from Mikey and Bunny Marie. Bunny Marie damaged beyond self-repair, her engines destroyed, spinning helplessly, unable to maneuver. Mikey was going into stasis and Bunny Marie was shutting down all non-essential systems; they could hold out until Gerard and Helena found them, however long it took.

Word Count: 32,500

Summary:
Frank's worked hard to build a life for himself in the city of Jersey, where dragons swoop and dive over the river, and every day is divided by the ringing of the city bells. He knows the streets of the city like he knows the the tattoos on the backs of his hands, and he's content with what he has: a job as a bike courier, friends who love to give him shit, and a crush on a professor of art history at the local university.

But he's also got a secret—one he's been running from for a long time. But all it takes is one delivery to a mysterious, quite-probably-magical bookshop to show Frank that there are some things you can’t outrun. Especially since he’s finally found a place that he doesn’t want to leave.
