The Bandom Big Bang Challenge

Okay, folks, here we go. Everyone who was supposed to check in for art and mixes has checked in. Right now, there's only one summary that needs a pinch hit (either art or mix, or both) - if you are interested in helping out, shoot an email to bandombigbang at gmail.

Beyond that, there are three stories that don't have a mix and four stories that don't have any art, and it would be really nice if every story got a mix and art. So if you've finished your assignment, or you haven't snagged a claim, it's not too late. Art claims here, mix claims here.

Summaries are behind the cut. Authors, if you received a confirmation e-mail but your summary isn’t here, let us know RIGHT AWAY via an e-mail to bandombigbang@gmail.com.

Mixers,

1. Read the rules.
2. Try to read the summaries as thoroughly as you can before claiming. No take backs!
3. Leave a comment with:
   • LJ/DW username
   • E-mail address (try to use the same one you signed up with)
   • Summary # that you're claiming
4. We are in DOUBLE claims. Once a fic is struck-through, it has been claimed. Triple claims will open if and only if all summaries get claimed once.
5. Mods will reply confirming your claim or asking you to choose again.
6. Drafts will be sent out over the next several days via e-mail. Please wait 72 hours before contacting us because you are missing a draft. It takes time to coordinate this!
7. Check-in is July 7, due date is July 17, and further details will come with your draft e-mail!

The important thing to remember is that you can still drop out if you're freaking out or need to. We don't hold grudges. We will still love you! And what you can't finish for Wave 1 can be done for Wave 3 instead!

But you CAN do it!

Anyway there's a little over a week left until the rough draft due date. Which is Monday, June 16th. As long as it's still the 16th in Alofi, you're good.

There are less than a dozen performers signed up for Wave Two and I know a few have had to drop out. And the deadline for podfic was yesterday, so let's try to get things going again.

At this point, you need to have a podfic rough draft done, which is a podfic that is at least 50% done or 1 hour completed. If you've managed to get that far on your BBB podfic, congrats. Send an email to bandombigbang at gmail with a screencap of the exported file in iTunes or the raw file in your recording software as proof.

Include a summary of the story - remember that this is so that artists and mixers can decide if they want to chose your podfic. If the story requires warnings, please include them in the summary.

Rough drafts are due today, Saturday May 31st. As long as it's still the 31st in Alofi, you're still good.

If you have to drop out, for whatever reason, don't feel bad. Life happens. If you want to send an email saying so, that's fine. But if we don't get some kind of communication from you by the end of today we will assume that you've dropped out. No hard feelings, bb. *hugs*

June 16th is the big due date, and this is the informal check in poll where you appease me and the fact that I am nosy and let me know how things are going, if you need any help, that sort of thing. I promise not to ask any questions about William Beckett which, for those who know me, is a very difficult thing indeed.

So, as Monty Python would say, answer me these questions five. Three, sir. Three:

Are you done with your draft? If not, roughly how far along are you 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4?
Are you already weeping about your summary/title?
Do you need a cheerleader/hand-holding/moral support/beta/a hug?

This is an informal check in and not required but why not at least discuss cake preferences (who doesn’t like chocolate cake, not that there is anything wrong if you prefer vanilla or bacon or even kale).

So, the idea is pretty simple. Set a timer, turn off or shut down the distractions (I usually close Twitter/Tumblr) and write (or be productive) for a set amount of time. 30 minutes works for a lot of people, others have more success with shorter or longer periods. Most times I find someone to sprint with, so you have a sense of accountability or competition, depending on how you roll.

The purpose of this post is twofold: to find people to sprint with, and to record your word counts if you are sprinting by yourself.

If you're looking for sprinting-partners, reply to the ISO Sprinters comment - mention preferred platform, usual times you are sprinting, how to contact you.

A comment will go up every couple of days to record word counts if you are sprinting on your own - just reply with your results to the most recent comment.
